Why Partnership Matters

Honor Guard teams are often asked to perform high-visibility, emotionally significant, and operationally complex duties with limited funding, staffing, equipment, and training access. Many teams serve with extraordinary dedication while relying on personal time, local fundraising, donated resources, or inconsistent support.

Mission-aligned partnerships can help close that gap.

Partners can help support:

  • National standards and recommended best-practice development

  • Training access and professional development

  • Grants and scholarships for under-resourced teams

  • Resource library creation

  • Equipment and uniform readiness

  • Regional collaboration and mutual support

  • Recognition of exemplary service

  • National events, education, and outreach

Partnership Opportunities

Partnerships may take different forms depending on the partner’s role, resources, and mission alignment.

Guardrail 1: No Purchased Influence
Partnership, sponsorship, donation, or vendor support does not purchase influence over Society standards, credentialing, recognition, governance, or policy decisions.

Guardrail 2: No Automatic Endorsement
Partnership with the Society does not automatically mean NHGS endorses, certifies, accredits, approves, or recommends a company, course, product, instructor, vendor, or service.

Guardrail 3: Standards Independence
Standards and recommended best practices should be developed through appropriate review, subject-matter input, board oversight, and respect for law, agency policy, and existing authority.

Guardrail 4: Mission-First Alignment
Partnerships should support the Society’s charitable and educational mission and must remain consistent with dignity, professionalism, vendor neutrality, and public trust.
